Can I migrate my existing member payments to Membership.io?
Understanding what happens with your existing member payments when migrating to Membership.io is one of the most important elements to moving an existing program to Membership.io.
Whether you can migrate existing member payments depends on where you're currently hosting your recurring member payments.
Membership.io has a direct integration with Stripe that allows you to attach your existing Stripe products and plans to your Hub to grant access to any active members. What is really critical to note is that you'll need to confirm that your member payments will not be cancelled when detached from your existing platform. Because this depends on the relationship between your existing platform and Stripe, Membership.io is not able to confirm whether your existing payments can be moved.
In short, each platform has a unique integration with Stripe. If you're interested it shifting your members area but keeping existing payment subscriptions, we highly recommend reaching out to your existing platform (ex. Podia, Kajabi, Clickfunnels) to confirm what happens to recurring member payments if you were to severe your current Stripe integration with the goal being that the member payments would continue in the new platform (Membership.io).
Here is an email template you can use to contact your existing platform to inquire about what will happen to your Stripe products if detached:
Hi there,
[Your name] here - I am a customer of [existing platform].I currently have my Stripe account integrated with your platform and am collecting recurring member payments for my [product] that I am delivering through your platform.
I wanted to inquire about the status of the recurring payments if I were to sever the integration between Stripe and your platform. Would the recurring payments be cancelled, or would they continue within Stripe?
My goal is to transfer the existing member Stripe payments that are collected through Stripe in the platform I'm migrating my membership to.

Based on what you learn about how the Stripe integration works, you have a few different options:
- If severing your existing Stripe integration cancels the payments, you can either keep your member payments in your existing platform or copy your member payments into a new Stripe account and recreate your subscriptions.
- You can also outsource your Stripe migration if needed.
- If severing your existing Stripe integration keeps the payments intact, you can connect your Stripe products and use a CSV import to notify your members of the members area switch.
What payment platforms does Membership.io integrate with?
- Stripe: Membership.io has a direct integration with Stripe. You can use our Stripe integration to automatically grant Hub access to anyone who purchases your products.

Zapier allows you to automatically pass audience information (usually name and email) from one platform to another. In this case, you'll use your external cart for the Zap trigger and Membership.io for the Zap action.
