What is a Hub?

Learn what a Hub is and get answers to some of our most common follow up questions.

What is a Hub?

A Hub is a public or private space for you to package and deliver your digital products. It’s designed for memberships and works great for courses, coaching programs, and more.

Think of a Hub as a private website where you can deliver your content to your members. Hubs are generally private and one Hub is most often used for one product.

Virtually any offering or program that uses audio and/or video content can be hosted on a Hub.

Hubs can be either public or private. Private Hubs can be tailored to control who has access to what content, allowing you to host multiple groups within the same Membership Hub that have access to only the content that they should have access to.

What can you fit in a Hub?

One Hub is generally meant for one digital product - be it a course, membership, or coaching program.

While you can host multiple programs within a single Hub using Membership.io’s Segments feature, whether you should depends on factors like content volume, member overlap, and branding consistency. If one program is significantly larger than others, keeping it in a separate Hub helps maintain organization.

When in doubt, using separate Hubs simplifies future updates and audits, ensuring a streamlined experience for both you and your members.

Can you host multiple programs inside one Hub?

It depends. With Membership.io’s Segments feature, you can manage multiple courses, memberships, or coaching programs within a single private Hub. However, just because you can doesn’t always mean you should.

The best approach depends on your content volume, member overlap, and branding consistency. There are three key questions you can ask yourself when determining how to stack your products:

  1. How "big" or complicated is this product? Does one course contain a total of 60 videos while the rest of your courses are 3 videos in total each? If yes, you'll likely want to keep your larger course in a separate Hub from the rest.
  2. Is anyone eligible to buy this product? If your audience differs quite significantly between different programs, you may want to keep those programs in separate Hubs. On the other hand, if all your programs are sold to similar markets, you may benefit from having them all in one Hub.
  3. How do I want to brand this product? Do your courses use similar graphics? Do your course and your membership use completely different colors, fonts, and logos from each other? Consider how your graphics will look when stacked together. Keep in mind that you want your site to look visually consistent.

What is the difference between the Library and a Hub?

Your Library is a private page that includes all of the video, audio and PDF content that gets uploaded or imported into your Membership.io. Your members will never be able to access your library.

Your Hub is meant for your members. You can use a Hub to deliver a course, membership or coaching program to your members. The content you upload to your Library can added into a Hub to be shared with your members.
