Files in the Library are locked, and I cannot edit them. What can I do about it?

You may have noticed that when you selected the file, it is currently being edited by another user in your team. This is normal behavior, as it allows only one person to edit the file at a time. This approach helps maintain consistency and prevents lost edits.

File locked for editing

The locking occurs when someone opens the file or clicks the three-dot dropdown menu on the file card. You can see right away who is currently editing the file.

If you want to be able to edit the file, you can ask the person currently editing it to leave the Library or switch to a different setting, such as Hubs.

I can't edit the Hub. What should I do?

If a team member is currently in the Hub dashboard or has the three-dot menu on the Hub card open, and you try to make edits, you'll see a brief message at the bottom of the Hubs page.

Hub locked for editing

This restriction is in place for the same reason that you cannot edit a file when someone else is using it. 

If you would like to edit the Hub, please ask the other person to either exit the Hub or switch to a different setting. Also, make sure that the three-dot menu (see the image below) on the Hub card is not open on their side. Please note that there is no need to log out of the Membership.io account.
