Turn off the dark overlay when the player is paused

Remove the dark overlay that appears when video content is paused on the Membership.io player

🧰 What You Will Need

  • A Membership.io account
  • Embedded or published content

The dark overlay that appears when a video is paused serves several purposes: it enhances focus on the controls, ensures privacy, maintains aesthetic consistency, saves energy on certain screens, and provides a clear visual indication that the video is paused. While these benefits are valuable, you may choose to turn off this feature, as it can conceal important information your audience might need to see clearly while the video is paused.

Follow this guide on how to disable the overlay in the player settings.

Step 1 - Access your Player settings

You can easily get to the Player settings by clicking here, or start going to it by clicking your profile icon at the bottom left corner and selecting Settings.

Click your profile image and select Settings

Scroll down to "Content" and then click Player. At the top, you'll find all the available player settings.

Step 2 - Turn off the Overlay feature

In the "Appearance" settings, turn off the Overlay option. You'll notice the change immediately in the player preview.
