Why Facebook lives posted in a group no longer appear in Searchie?

This article looks to provide some answers as to why Facebook group Lives can no longer be imported to Searchie through the integration.

Facebook Groups API Deprecation

On April 22, 2024, Facebook has announced significant changes to its Group API, removing all third-party apps in groups. Unfortunately, this change means Live broadcast recordings posted to Facebook groups will no longer sync to your Searchie account.

With this change, our integration will only work for Lives posted to Facebook pages. But no worries,  there's a workaround available to ensure these Lives are still accessible in your Searchie account: you can download them and manually upload them to Searchie.

How to Download Facebook Group Lives and upload to Searchie:

You can easily download your Facebook live videos to your computer once the stream has ended, as long as you haven't deleted the video. After your live stream ends, the video will automatically be posted to your timeline and saved to your Facebook video library.

Here's how to download your live video to your computer:
  1. Log into Facebook on a computer.
  2. Go to your Facebook Group and locate the video you’d like to download.
  3. Click  in the top right, then click Download Video. Your video will start downloading on your computer.

  4. If your video doesn't start downloading automatically, your browser will refresh. Click , then click Download to download your video.

Once you have your Facebook live broadcast recording downloaded, you can upload it to Searchie by following the steps outlined in this article on uploading media from your computer.
