Content vs. Custom Layouts Sections

Hub pages are built on sections. Membership.io gives you the ability to use pre-built sections and custom sections when building your Hub pages.

Content sections

Using content sections is the simplest way to quickly create pages in your Hub with minimal design changes needed. These content sections complement the theme settings of your Hub, allowing you to focus on the content rather than worrying about formatting.

You pick a type of content to add—a file, playlist, page, or external URL, depending on the kind of layout—and then fill in the details of that content to finish creating the section. You don't need anything else, but you'll find additional settings in the Styling tab of the section if you want to customize it further.

Custom Layouts

If you're looking for a more distinctive appearance for your Hub, consider exploring custom layouts. They provide you with complete control over the layout and content of a section, allowing you to arrange the elements in a way that suits your preferences on the page.

Each element in a custom layout section will have its corresponding Settings and Styling, so be sure to confirm the options before adding your new layout section to your Hub.

The difference between them

The main difference between the two section types is their depth of customization. Content sections sacrifice some arrangement options for simplicity, while custom layouts sacrifice simplicity in exchange for more control. That said, they each have their benefits and cases best suited for them.
