Customize your Player Settings

Step 1 - Access Your Player Settings

You can access your player settings by clicking your profile icon > Settings > Player or by clicking this link.

Below is a quick view of all the Player-specific settings:

Step 2 - Change your settings

It's time to adjust your settings! The player settings are categorized into Controls, Timeline, Video, Info, Appearance, and Privacy. You can preview the changes directly on the player to see how they appear to your members.

Controls

Under Controls, you can fine-tune how your members interact with your media player. Try out different combinations to find what works best, or use the default setup as a solid starting point.

Timeline

In the Timeline tab, you’ll find options that affect how the progress bar displays and how users navigate through your content. We recommend turning them all on, especially if you’re using the Chapters feature to help them jump to key moments.

Video

Next, under Video, consider enabling features like "Play on Open" for shared links. We highly recommend keeping "Fullscreen" and "Volume" toggled on. The rest are up to your members' viewing preferences.

Info

Under Info, you can customize what displays when the video is paused—like the title, description, and date. Play the preview on the right, pause it, and watch the changes appear in real time.

🔥HOT TIP! Removing the Date from your videos can be very useful when sharing "evergreen" content.

Appearance

In the Appearance tab, you can change the color of your player, remove the Membership.io logo, and upload your own branding if you're on the Start plan or higher. You can also toggle the dark background overlay when the player is paused, which is helpful if you want viewers to focus on a specific element on the screen.

Privacy

Finally, check out the Privacy settings. Here, you can control whether your members can download or share media files, and whether to show the Transcriptions Search* icon in the player. We recommend leaving that on, as it’s a powerful feature built right into Membership.io.

You can toggle the feedback options for your content and configure which domains are allowed to view it.

*The Transcriptions Search toggle is the primary setting to pay attention to, as it controls the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner of your Player. We recommend keeping this enabled to showcase the robust transcription and search capabilities Membership.io provides with every uploaded media file. Only turn it off if you want to hide this functionality.

Step 3 - Save your changes

Before you leave this page, be sure to hit Save above the video preview on the right to have these settings shown wherever your content is shared.
