Diagnose and fix some of the common issues with the Chrome extension
How do I allow access to my camera and microphone on Chrome?
If you can't use your camera or microphone inside the extension, check your Chrome Site Settings (all sites) and make sure the Camera and Microphone permissions are set accordingly.
Why does it say "Screen Recording Denied"?
If you're on a PC, please check the other troubleshooting suggestions in this article, restart your Chrome browser, and contact Support if the issue continues.
For Mac users, navigate to the Privacy & Security settings to locate the "Screen & System Audio Recording" menu. Here, you can verify if Google Chrome is included in the list of allowed applications.
Why do I get an access (or permission) denied error when I try to record a social media site page like Facebook or Instagram?
Sites like Facebook and Instagram block the Chrome Extension or any other third-party recording apps from recording using a device camera and microphone. This restriction limits the extension's capability and is not an actual issue.
Why won't the extension launch at all on web PDFs, blank URLs, or when in Chrome Settings?
The extension only launches on actual web pages. It can't insert code on these non-web pages. To make it possible to record any of these pages, launch the extension on a web page and go through them as you record your screen.
Why did my recording upload fail?
There are a variety of reasons as to why the recording may have failed. It could be something to do with your network connection, a memory issue on your computer, or something else. You can try to re-upload failed recordings by following the steps in this article or uninstall and reinstall the Extension to give it another go.
I chose to record in 1080p but my final recording shows a max resolution of 720p, why?
This is likely due to a screen resolution limitation. If the resolution of your computer screen is anything less than 1920 x 1080, the extension will not be able to create a 1080p video with your recording.
My Extension Recording was cut off, what should I do?
Take the following steps to stop your recording from being cut off in the future.
-
Close any unused tabs/apps.
-
Check your computer's memory. If your device is low on RAM this could be problematic.
-
Check your battery level. We recommend recording when you're plugged into a power source.
-
Test your upload speed. A good estimate for successful recording is 5 Mbps and above.
-
Use a stable internet connection.
How can I hide the player toolbar, while still being able to access the controls (play/pause, stop, cancel) during recording?
The solution is simple—use keyboard shortcuts! Just open the keyboard shortcuts for all your Chrome extensions (URL shortcut: "chrome://extensions/shortcuts") and use the default shortcuts or assign new ones for some of the player toolbar functionalities in your Searchie (Membership.io) AI Screen Recorder.
If you still have issues recording your screen with the Chrome Extension, please contact our support team at help@membership.io.
