Members, Contacts, and Segments
Overview of how Members, Contacts, and Segments work together inside Membership.io
While they’re closely related, Members, Contacts, and Segments serve different purposes in Membership.io.
Members
A Member is a contact affiliated with a specific Hub. If someone has access to a private Hub, they are a Member of that Hub.
When you view Membersinside a Hub, you’re seeing the people who currently have access to that specific product.
Contacts
Contacts are your complete database of people. This includes active and past members and leads. You can import or manually add users to your list of Contacts.
Your Contacts represent everyone connected to your business, whether they currently have access to your products or not.
Segments
Segments are dynamic groups of contacts based on filter conditions. For example, you can segment by payment status, registration date, tags, activity, and more.
Segments update automatically and could power:
-
Drip access
-
Targeted messaging
-
Automations
-
Content permissions
How they relate
-
Contacts – Lists all people you have under "Contacts"
-
Members – Contacts with Hub access
-
